Laryngitis

First off, I have laryngitis

Yeah, the inability to speak and actually be heard. I squeak, not speak.

And I feel like something that comes out of the back end of a mammal. Hey, I'm trying to be PC here!

So what does any of this have to do with my ability to put my fingers on the keyboard and type like there's no tomorrow?

Well, I just don't feel like it. So there!

It isn't because I don't have topics to blog about--shoot, I have two sticky notes full of topics. Of course, I have to upload my pictures, figure out how to make a slide show, and then post it on the blog. But that's besides the point.

I have editing to do on TROLL.

I just received a packet of contest entries to judge.

I have to work on my non-fiction outline

I have to fill out some interview sheets.

And this doesn't even include being wife, mother, chauffeur, cook, laundress, bottlewasher, etc.

I have a ton of stuff to do, but all I really want to do is sit by the pool and read . . .

The sun beat down on my pool  boy's tanned and toned torso as his muscles tighten, glistening with sweat, as he  thrusts the brush down the sides of the deep end of the pool. My sunglasses prevent my pool boy from realizing that I'm watching him instead of reading my book, but his grin tells another story.

The ice in my glass clinks as I take a sip of my beverage, capturing an ice cube in my teeth. My fingers remove the ice from my mouth to gently stroke the frigid wetness up and down my neck. . . .

Sorry, but that's all I got. The snot in my head is making it hard to think.

Later, peeps!

Whiny-butt sicky . . .

I hate to be a whiny butt, but I've been sick. Wah!!

I don't "DO" sick well, kinda like many males of our species. Usually, I just want to be left alone to wallow in my misery . . . though that is unlike most males who want to be cosseted.

Anyhoo, I've felt like something the cat killed, buried, dug up and ate before puking it up again. Everything hurts--joints, muscles, head, nose, you name it, it probably hurts. I've tried meds, but nothing works. Saturday night I got three hours of sleep and I was seriously excited!

I even took a test to see if this was a cold or the flu to see what I had.
It's a cold . . . I changed a few of my symptoms and still got a cold.  That's what I get for giving my sick kidlet a couple of bizzous (kisses) when she was sick. Yep, the little snotter gave it to me, well, actually she gave it to daddy who gave it to me. I think I'm about a day behind him.

I'm ready to get back to normal. I made the mistake of trying to read a couple of contest entries . . . they were bad, really bad. I'm hoping that it was because I'm sick and not because they were inferior entries. Guess I'll have to get better before I try to judge those entries again.

I'm not looking forward to Tuesday's weigh-in. It doesn't bode well considering I've been eating 'comfort' food with nary a veg in sight! Maybe I'll wait to weigh until after a 'procedure' I'm scheduled to have on Thursday.

...let's just say that I'm on a liquid diet on Wednesday and have to take meds to 'clean out my system' . .  ye-ah. . . joyful, joyful. This is looking like a fun-filled week.

Well, I don't have anything to add, so . . .

Later, Peeps!

Got Head Cold, Need Books

My head is stuffed full of snot and I really don't feel like writing.  Heck, I don't feel like doing much of anything.  I don't know about y'all, but when I get a sick I just want to curl up with a good book for a few days.  Christmas stories are my novels of choice this time of year.  One of my goals this year was to read 50 books,  I just crossed over the 40 book mark and I doubt if I'll make it, but you never know.

Here's a thought: Maybe I'll raid my daughter's stockpile of middle grade books--then I should hit the 50 book mark by the end of the year.

I've also been known to watch movie marathons for days on end.  Recently, my choice has been the Harry Potter movies--gotta get ready for the Deathly Hallows, ya know.  I can't wait to see the new Disney movie, Tangled either.  The previews look wonderful and fun.  It's twisted fairy tale, which puts it in the unique category.  I mean, how many movies have hair as a character?  Well, there was that Fairy Oddparents episode when Timmy Turner's hair got a mind of it's own and it started taking over the world, but that's another story.

So what movies do you want to see over the holidays?
And do you read Christmas stories during the season?
If you want to read a fun anthology then you need to pick up WOLFSBANE AND MISTLETOE, edited by Charlaine Harris (she of Sookie Stackhouse fame). the only thing these stories have in common is werewolves and Christmas.  Reading an anthology of short stories or novellas is great way to discover new to you authors.

Write on! . . . not today, but later after the full moon . . .
