My Mom Turns 90!

Mom at 18
Yesterday, Oct 16, my mom turned 90 years old. Some of you may realize that I'm her 9th child. And yes, all of us are still living. Mom had me when she was 39 years old and I had Rachel when I was 39 years old. I'd be happy if I lived to 90 and was still as active as my mom.
--uh, I'm not really five inches taller than the others in this picture. . . I have on some serious stilettos. :-)
Mom, Rachel, Me
This river birch behind us has stood the test of time, just like mom. We moved into the house in 1973 and this birch was young and strong. Over the years, it thrived and grew as our family thrived and grew. A few years ago, it suffered major damage due to an ice storm, but even with most of its branches hewn because they broke from the weight of the ice, it still stands and prospers. A few years ago, Mom suffered a heart attach, and yet she is still going strong.

Hubby and I decided to take her out to a nice Sunday brunch at La Villa, a restaurant in Philbrook, a local art museum. It would be just the four of us.

--and then our party grew and grew until we had 10. They barely managed to fit us all around one table. It was a tight fit, but we could actually carry on a conversation with everyone at the table, which NEVER would have happened if they had split us up.
My brother, Jim, is taking this picture.
Everyone seemed happy that no one had to cook or clean up during this process. There was more than one comment that it was nice just to sit and visit without having to worry about 'stuff'. I planted the seed that we might do this sometime over Thanksgiving . . . my brother, Jim, perked up and said, "Where?" This wasn't too surprising, considering we all invade his house for Thanksgiving dinner.

Later, Peeps!
