Foodie Friday -- Lynchburg Lemonade

Last Friday I didn't post a Foodie Friday and, boy, did I hear about it from Bob (a writer friend's hubby--we IM each other all the time . . . yes, she knows we do that as she's usually in the room with him!)

Since I have only one minute before my normal post time of 6 AM, then I'll have to keep it short and sweet this week.

This is one of my fallback drink recipes, right up there with the Margarita on the rocks. It's a little sweeter than the Margarita, but still refreshing in the heat of the summer. And yes, you can purchase it pre-made at a local liquor store, but why spend so much money on the packaging when you can make it at home . . . provided you have the ingredients.

Enjoy!

Lynchburg Lemonade

1 jigger Jack Daniel's black label Tennessee Whiskey
1  jigger sweet and sour mix
1/2 jigger triple sec
Fill glass with Lemon-lime soda ( 7-UP or Sprite)

Fill 12 oz. glass 2/3 full of crushed ice. Add whiskey, triple sec, and sweet and sour mix. Top off with soda. Stir and enjoy!

Sometimes I adjust it to make it a little more lemony by adding more sweet and sour mix.
Sometimes I make it a little too strong and have to drink some to add more soda. Darn!
Using a diet soda in this recipe works just fine . I do it all the time. *Hee, I made a rhyme*
Whiskey Sour mix (if you can find it!) works better with this recipe than sweet and sour. I think it gives it more of the lemon that I like.
And if you chose to drink this beverage by the pool, remember to put it in a plastic cup. Broken glass in or around a swimming pool is bad news!

Enjoy, Peeps!
