Post Christmas Blues? Try an Early Spring Cleaning.

"Whadda mean I wasn't supposed to open it to get the squeaky out??"
This pretty much represents our Christmas.
Toys opened beyond the basic paper.  Polyester guts strewn all over the floor.

Mr. Kato Kitty got the munchies when he was stoned on cat nip.  Of course, I figured that it would be a good way to go considering he's a well-aged kitty cat.

My children, the old one (46) and the young one (10) argued, fought, and worked together playing the new Wii games.

I 'tested' my new Keurig coffee system and drank more coffee in two days than any normal person has a need, while downloading books on my new Kindle.

The 'raindeeer' was just because.

My daughter figured out how to use paint on the computer--by herself--mind you, and created these works of art.

For Daddy

For Mom
For Santa

Personally, I love and hate this post-Christmas season.  The house is a mess with stuff strewn everywhere--and this isn't counting the critter guts that Maggie left all over the house.  Dust gathers on every available surface.

But this is also a good time of year to clean out the house, remove the unused items and donate them. This is when I do my 'spring cleaning'.

It's a mental spring cleaning along with the physical one.  Remove all the bad or non-productive stuff from the previous year and start the new year bright and fresh with a clean slate.

Instead of post-Christmas letdown think of this time of year as a pre-New Year readjustment to your life.

Peace out!  And can someone lend me a hand to pick up some Panda guts?

  1. Margaret--
The kidlet did very well. Love the pictures.
LOL on the panda guts. We have become very selective on dog toys now.
I like the idea of spring cleaning. . .just not able to get motivated today.

  2. Sorry. Can't help with the Panda guts. I have raccoon and squirrel guts (and squeakers) all over my house. Maggie 1 never ever tore up a toy, chewed a shoe, got on my couch. Maggie II? Oh yeah. Does it all!

Spring cleaning can wait until spring. :)

  3. This is the second toy Maggie destroyed. The first one I keep sewing the holes shut, but this time I decided to let her have some fun.

We finally threw the thing away. the entire body was gutted and she managed to rip off two of the legs. When she started removing stuffing from the legs, I decided that it was time to 'retire' the creature for good.

    We're still picking up stuffing!

I've found that this is the perfect time to 'spring clean' since I have new stuff, it makes me want to get rid of the old stuff.

I have a new Keurig, so I'm donating two coffee pots. And with the Kindle, I'm donating loads of books, except my 'keepers'. My desk is now clean . . . except for the Linda Lael Miller book and The Hobbit . . . though I might have to buy that on Kindle since it's yellowed with age and falling apart!

  4. LOL about the guts. Shadow found a roll of pink paper Friday and shredded it in his kennel. At least it was confined, but we have to shut him outside before we can pick up.

  5. But the important part of the pink paper confetti was that Shadow had fun! Right, Marilyn?

Personally, I think Maggie is holding a grudge that we threw away her toy. :-( But I was starting to worry that she would cause a polyester impaction that would put money in the vet's pocket.

  6. I love kidlet's pictures. She must get her talent from her mama.

No spring cleaning at my house. I'll be lucky if I do my regular cleaning.

Glad you had a great Xmas. So did we. Especially since we had some unexpected deliciousness. :)

  7. Sorry, Edie, the kidlet doesn't get her artistic talent from me--her Golla Grandma is the artist in the family (oils, watercolors, mixed media, art glass--you name it, she's done it).

And the computer talent is from Poppa Bear.

She simply looks at me and shakes her head when I mention elves, dragons or leprechauns. . . See what I have to put up with??
    I get no respect!

--glad you enjoyed the nummy goodies :-)

  8. He had a ball. He loves dragging stuff into his kennel, shredding it and scattering it around. But he's so kennel-aggressive (and likes the way it looks, apparently) that the only way we can clean it is to put him outside, where he stands up at the door and barks ferociously. But I'm like you -- I don't want him deciding to eat enough to require a visit to Dr. Suz. These guys are expensive enough when they're healthy!

  9. I don't know which requires more cleaning up after: men or pets. I like both, but the cleanup is one of the reasons I won't have either one of them in my house full time!

  10. I think Todd is the exception to the rule with most guys. His desk and work bench (in the garage)seem to get the brunt of his messiness, but I'm not complaining because the man knows how to clean!

  11. Do you remember my boyfriend, Jim? He had a pretty stressful job, and his way of de-stressing was to clean. Our place was always spotless!!!!

  12. Was Jim the artsy-looking guy with long curly hair? If it was, I remember him. What type of job did he have? I always thought he was an artist of some sort or another

  13. That wasn't Jim, that was Steve. Jim came after Steve; he had darker hair that was wavy but not curly. Yes, Steve was an artist. Jim was a tech guy with a pretty high stress job in the industry I got OUT of.

  14. Sorry, I don't remember him, but then again, I don't remember crap that happens in my OWN life! I usually have to ask the hubster about stuff!
