Have y'all ever watched WHAT NOT TO WEAR? You know, Stacy and Clinton?
I have and it seems as if my sis-in-law and her daughters have, too.
So what brings this up? My family is in town for my niece's wedding. All of my sibs have journeyed from Japan to Massachusetts to celebrate the wedding. We love a party and if someone else is footing the bill, then 'Hey! Party down!'. That and it's in the same town as the matriarch of the family, my mom, GRANDMA. My mom is almost 88 years old and still chugging along on her own power. She drives to exercise three times a week. Goes to the hairdresser, nail tech, doctors, etc, pretty much on her own power. But she does know her limitations. She won't drive on the expressway or after dark, and pretty much sticks to the same familiar streets.
Anyhoo, I suppose y'all are wondering how this fits with the intro sentence. Well, I needed a new bra. My SIL (sis-in-law) had watched a Stacy and Clinton discuss how to properly fit a bra. When she went shopping with her daughters, she had a 'coming to Jesus moment' and found the perfect bra. I needed a bra. Thus her newly acquired bra knowledge and my need were intertwined.
And, I must say that when you wear a proper fitting bra--life is good! I'd been wearing Victoria's Secrets bras over the years, but I'd gained weight, lost weight, and gained weight and nothing fit right. Trust me, everything shifts, and when you get older most of it shifts south! So we were off to J.C. P's to try the 'miracle' bra that works for my SIL and nieces. Uh, it didn't work for me, BUT I found a brand that did--YAY! Buy one, get one for 1/2 off! Yay! I bought four bras-in two different styles. And you know what? They are two different sizes. Yep, ladies, just because you think you are a 36C, it doesn't mean you are a 36C in ALL bras!
And when those babies, or boobies if you prefer, are snug as a bug in a rug it's AMAZING how good a bra feels!
So, there you have it. My blog for the day that has absolutely NOTHING to do with writing!
Write On!
Good for you! I recently found a bra that fit, but when I wore it too long, I realized it dug into my flesh a bit and that part itched. I plan to lose weight, so think it will work then. If it does, I'll buy four more, too.
ReplyDeleteHehehehe, I knew you would respond, Edie! I LOVE my new bras--I never knew they could be comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI bought a couple of new bras at JC Pennys. One of them is WONDERFUL. It isn't too tight. Doesn't ride up. My boobs don't bounce around.
ReplyDeleteYou're right...a good bra is that thing of beauty.
Most women don't realize that bras aren't meant to last forever. And you're right. Weight gains and weight losses will affect how your bra fits.
Glad you found one you like!
I wore one of my new bras on my morning walk and my boobs didn't hurt from bouncing around. Love it! Glad you found some bras, too, Cyndi!
ReplyDeleteBra fitting is a particular challenge for me. The man-made side is slightly larger, much firmer and much less, um, "pliable" than the natural side. It does not "cleave". So I've got two different sizes, shapes and behavior patterns to try to pacify. NOT an easy task!
ReplyDeleteThe key, for me, is that I must have an underwire bra that is lightly padded all over, but no extra 'push up' padding. It has to fit the bigger side. Then I have to add a little 'cookie pad' to shore up the natural side to match.
Try explaining THAT to the bra-fit expert at Victoria's Secret.
When I find ANYthing that works, I buy half a dozen of them.
Well, you know, Jody, I never thought about your particular problem. Different types of boobs do pose some problems, don't they?
ReplyDeleteIt was a crusade to figure it out, but I finally have a short list of brands/styles that fit.
ReplyDeleteThe good news: The man made side can't sag, and the real side is too small to sag. So I guess the girls will always stay "perky", which is a lot more than I can say for the rest of me. :)
Nice post! I love your blog
