I know many times you'll read a blog post or a comment on Facebook and you'll click the LIKE button, or sometimes you'll post a comment.
But have you ever thought about the SHARE button?
So many times, people only click the SHARE button when a picture or post has been shared a gazillion times, but what about those tiny flashes of insight that hit home? You click LIKE, but what if you SHAREd it with your FB friends? Or perhaps you have one particular person who would benefit from the comment? Or you know of one group of people who would appreciate the status update. Would you share with that group?
For example: Perhaps you live in a town that has a special promotion, but you only want to share that promotion with a small group of your FB friends, mainly those who reside in that town. Well, you can provided you have your peeps grouped accordingly.
Or: You are on a weight loss journey and want to share some insights another person posted on FB, then don't copy and paste . . . that's just stealing, but instead click SHARE. Then you can post it to an individual or your entire cast of FB friends (scroll down arrow gives numerous options) along with a comment as to why you wanted to share this insight with others.
Or: you happen to be reading a blog post and it resonates with you. You want to SHARE that post on Twitter, Google+, or Facebook, then you can by simply clicking the buttons at the end of each blog post. It will post on your Pages.
So next time you are ready to click the LIKE button, maybe the post or status update is something you might want to SHARE with others.
Just something to think about, my friends.

Goodbye, Farmville
I've enjoyed playing you and making new farmer friends, but the time has come to say good-bye.
I know we've been going together for two years. We started off with the puppy love of four plots and a chicken or two, growing into two substantial farms, my home and your English one. I love the animals we collected and bred, but again, you became far too time consuming. Building a gazillion orchards and making my arborist obsolete, but not giving me enough herders to harvest my critters with one click. I became frustrated when I would have a unique foal to put into my nursery barn only to have it grow up into a stupid black horse.
I love the mini-challenges you provided, but the Lady Gaga challenge was simply the last straw.
--Not that I have anything against Lady Gaga, shoot, she's a marketing guru to use that platform to kick-off her new album/tour/whatever. That was pure genius. Wish I could sell my books that way.
I really hate to say this, Farmville, but you've simply become too much work. What used to take minutes a day in our relationship, soon became hours were devoted to making it work.
My addiction of you must stop.
A week ago, I harvested all my crops and plowed my fields. And then, I wrote you a Dear John note, telling you I needed a vacation. But that was a lie. It was my way of telling you farewell. And I think I was ready for our break-up because it was easier than I expected.
I hate to be the one to give up OUR friends, but what must be, must be.
Three days ago, I blocked all the messages you have been sending me. I'm sorry, sweetie, but it had to be done.
I have another game in my life that doesn't take up too much time . . . except when it plays challenges upon catering assignments and I can't seem to find the time to master all the dishes.
Very frustrating at times.
And I know I will kick Cafe World out of my life just as I kick you out if it becomes too much of a hassle. I'll always have Spider Solitaire or Mahjong Titans.
Good-bye, Farmville! It was a good run while it lasted!
Later, Peeps

I've Succumbed to the Time Suck
of Facebook. I'm still trying to figure out how to upload my contacts list so I can 'friend' people. No, I don't plan to indiscriminately send emails to God and everyone on my list, but I do want to set up some sort of list that has meaning to me.
I decided to join Facebook for two reason: networking and family.
Networking: I want to have another form of contact with writer friends. And when I was requested to friend two of my old chapters mates (a RWA chapter I didn't rejoin this year), I thought this might be a good way to keep in touch since I'm no longer on their yahoo loop. Plus meeting new writer friends or old high school classmates does have its draws. But I hate to say it, just because there's a reason I haven't kept in touch with my old HS classmates, it doesn't mean I'm not curious as to what happened to some of them.
Family: I was talking to my SIL on the phone last Friday, when her daughter came home and checked her Facebook account. It turns out another niece had been in D.C. for a conference and was in a train wreck--not injured. I found out about this quicker than the tried and true method of . . . Grandma. My mother (87) is the glue that keeps this family together. Nine of us kids are spread across the US with one in Japan, and of course, we are wrapped up in our own lives so we don't communicate as often as we should. I have their email accounts, but the last time I emailed the group was when Mom had a heart attack a couple of years ago. I do realize that I'll probably only have contact with the younger members of the family, but I think we should all keep in touch one way or another.
Today, I'll try to figure out how to 'friend' people, but I really need to get moving on finishing my picture book and editing my middle grade novel. There's no timeline on the PB, but the Delacorte Yearling contest deadline is looming at the end of June, and the kiddo is out of school at the end of May and there goes my window of opportunity!
