Weighty Wednesday -- Go the Distance

This last week was a little tougher for me. I gained a little weight, but I'm still a few pounds below my goal weight. So, I'm good.

My candy boxes were all packed, but I had leftovers . . . uh-oh is right!

I will admit that many of the flavors I can resist--that's not to say they aren't good, but they aren't my Achilles heel, so to speak. I don't crave them. For some reason, when I took them to my Weight Watcher meeting, no one wanted to imbibe. I felt like a drug dealer offering my goods out of the trunk of my car! My next stop was ARC's Salon--it's a nice Robert Cromeans AKA Paul Mitchell salon--to give my stylist Marion her Christmas present.

I had a lightbulb moment--give the rest of my candy away to all the people in black who scurried around that establishment. They have a ton of stylists and assistants. Voila! There's my answer. I filled three plates with candy and fudge. I hope they enjoyed the nummies!

I still have turtles, toffee and sea salt caramels, but a little goes a long way with those particular candies. I enjoy them, but don't crave them. Big difference. I don't pop them like Pez--they're too hard to chew. for one.

But then in my wonderfully stupid way, I decided to make reindeer and polar bear poop when the kidlet was at a Christmas party on Sunday. Now, those things are addictive!

I still want to make peanut brittle and walnut brittle, but I don't know if I will or not. If I do, I need to be sure the hubster can take the extras to work.

In other words, the challenges are still there during this holiday season. Less than a week until Christmas, and the world is a harried place. Just take a chill pill, factor extra travel time in your shopping, pack an appropriate snack and water, and enjoy the season.

Personally, it isn't Christmas dinner that scares me . . . it's the week in between Christmas and New Year's Day when hubs and kidlet are home. We tend to eat more--we eat out more, we eat in more, and I tend to blow off my healthy eating guidelines.

My goal is to work daily to achieve those guidelines of water, fruit and veggies, and milk products. I also need to remember to eat lean protein to keep me feeling full.

Stay focused, my friends. Add any exercise possible. With the crowds at the mall, you will probably have to park out in the North Forty to even find a spot for your car. And when you walk from the parking lot to the mall, don't just walk--walk quickly. Get your heart rate going. Continue inside the mall. Have a plan of attack and walk quickly.

--if you stroll, you aren't getting the full benefit of the exercise!

And with my ActiveLink, I did notice an increase in activity when I was wrapping gifts for a couple hours. Remember, every little movement helps!

Next Tuesday, I won't have a Weight Watcher's meeting, but I will be weighing myself on Christmas day. My kidlet wants my cinnamon rolls, so that's another challenge for me. Luckily, I usually indulge only once and they divvy up the rest of them over the next few days.

Good Luck! Have a very Merry Christmas!
