Kidlet Growing Up

Yesterday, I had to do some shopping for the kidlet. Next week, Cascia Hall will be taking the sixth graders to Eugene Fields Child Development center to earn some community service hours. The principal sent all the parents a note recommending the girls wear khaki pants instead of their skirts since they will be reading and playing with 3-5 year olds.

My daughter will love this community service. Heck, she loves playing with toddlers and kids younger than her. She always has. Probably due to the fact she doesn't have a younger brother or sister, but that's another blog.

Anyhoo, she had outgrown the khaki's I bought her last year.  She is so busy with school and swim that she doesn't have much time to spend shopping for clothes. So I took her measurements . . . and then I took mine, so I could try on the pants to make certain they fit.

And guess what?

We have the same sized hips and inseam. Wow.

Her waist is two inches smaller than mine, but that's to be expected . . . and her arms are 2-inches LONGER than mine. . . that's to be expected too.

So I wandered over to Kohl's department store, found some khaki's to try on and bought a pair--size 4. Yep, I'm still shrinking . . .

This is a win-win situation.
1) the kidlet gets a nice pair of Lee twills to wear for the winter, and
2) I'll get a new pair of khakis in the spring.

Later, Peeps!

  1. I'm surprised you haven't written at some point about how stores mess with us by changing the way they cut their sizes every damned year. I have no idea what size I am. I have six different sizes in my closet and they all fit exactly the same. WTF?

  2. Good idea, Jods. I think I'll make this my Weighty Wednesday blog post.

I'm now a size 4, weigh 128-130 lbs and can definitely still pinch an inch on my gut!

    The last time I weighed this I wore a size 8 or a 10.

I honestly have no idea how you find clothes. I know I'm going to have to learn to shop in places other than Wal-Mart, Target, or Sam's Club!
