There was a reason that I prewrote last week's blog--it was because we were in Las Vegas while the kidlet was at camp. Poor thing, it was hotter in Oklahoma than it was in Vegas . . . and Vegas is a freaking desert! Yes, it is a dry heat and my allergies were totally calm for the entire week, but 98-99 degrees is still hot. Not as hot as Oklahoma where the daily average temp was 105 degrees where the kidlet was staying. We felt guilty, so we bought her stuff. It helps having only one kidlet to buy for, too.
I'll have more pics in another blog, but here's the rundown for Vegas and the rest of the week:
1) we took the kidlet to Girl Scout camp on Sunday
2) we left for Vegas on Monday
- we stayed at the ARIA, personally a little more modern than my taste--I really liked the Bellagio
- we splurged and took a helicopter ride (my first!) to the Grand Canyon and ate a picnic lunch in the canyon on Indian land
- visited the M&M store
- we went to Ethel M's chocolate factory and cactus garden
- we went to Pawn Star's pawn shop--they were filming off-site. :-( so no Chumlee autograph for the kidlet
- We saw Terry Fator--a ventriloquest/impersonator who won AMERICA'S GOT TALENT a few years ago.
4) Friday, I did laundry and caught up on various other stuff that needed to get taken care of before we picked the kidlet up later in the afternoon.
5) Saturday, we invited my family over--15 of them--we were down 3 since my niece, hubby and baby couldn't make it. And no, I hadn't gone to the store yet . . .
6 Sunday, we drove 3.5 hours to Silver Dollar City--rode rides, rode go-carts (1st time kidlet was tall enough to drive on her own!), ate at Cantina Laredo, and Andy's key lime custard.
That was my weekly round-up. I'll have more Vegas details and pics later. And no, we didn't win any money. Trust me there's a reason the hotels are monstrously HUGE!
Later Peeps!
Sounds like fun all the way around!
