Well, actually it was complete Friday night, but I didn't take pictures until yesterday. Of course, I posted the pictures EVERYWHERE, except my blog. And yes, I had to include fuzzybutt Maggie at roughly 3 months old. :-)
Here are a few more pics.
This was taken from the bottom of our deck steps. Just to give you an idea of the distance, our pool is 40 feet long.
The bothersome contractors still haven't finished cleaning up their crap: plywood, buckets, and stuff. I'm giving them until the end of this week to remove it or it goes out with the rest of the trash.
Behind the fence, which is next on the replacement agenda, is the kidlet's school.
We bought the chairs from Wal-Mart online. They will ship to the store closest to you for free. What a deal! It's a two chair, one table (we put it next to two recliners) combo. I'm not talking money, but let's just say that the entire thing was cheaper than ONE chair at any of the local outdoor furniture stores. Yee-aahh . . .
Next to the firebox is a dwarf Alberta spruce, and to the right of the hearth is a weeping blue spruce, a Neon Flash spirea. The rest of the color belongs to a couple of flats of zinnias. I want to find a large flat planter to put on the firebox to break up the stone.
You can see the weeping blue spruce better in this picture.
And that's it for now.
Write on!
That's beautiful, margie! I got to spend all my money just getting the weeds and overgrowth whacked out of my yard. God forbid I plant anything or water it and ENCOURAGE something to grow, it does a fine job taking over on its own. An amazing feat considering it doesn't even rain in the summer.
ReplyDeleteThe good news - I discovered I have a pear tree. It hasn't produced fruit the past few years but this year it's loaded with little pears. That'll make a nice addition to the walnuts, plums, apples, persimmons and blackberries that grow (all with NO help from me) in my yard. I miss the peach and lemon trees, they were doing poorly and had to be removed.
Thanks, Jody. I saw your SOS on Facebook about your yard and wondered if the overgrowth was your landlady's problem.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have liveable space now. If it isn't too big of a space, you might consider a heavy duty weed whacker to keep it under control.
I always find it so amazing that Californians grow so much stuff in their backyards without doing anything.
I hope you give your cooking friends all the extras with hints about 'repayment' in the form of pies, tarts, crumbles, etc.
It's gorgeous. I want to come over there and camp out in your back yard. lol You and your hubby made great choices!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Edie! Todd is talking about camping the backyard.--Rachel and him are welcome to it! Why waste a perfectly good bed with air conditioning inside???
ReplyDeleteMargie, the yard is HUGE. I tried the weed whacker thing once and it just takes too damned long. I have better things to do with my time.
ReplyDeleteThere used to be a creek running through the yard and it was diverted underground. This makes the water table really high, and makes the yard self-watering. Things grow without any help from me.
